GTPA is pleased to announce that we have been selected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as an Accreditor and reviewer of U.S. Licensed Customs House Broker Continuing Education
GTPA is pleased to announce that together with EMTC, our ISO certification partner, we have been selected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as an Accreditor and reviewer of U.S. Licensed Customs House Broker Continuing Education.
EMTC & GTPA are honored to be selected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as an Accreditor for training that supports the professional growth of our Licensed Custom House Brokers. CBP selected a limited number of accreditors to review training presented by educators and organizations in the industry. CBP’s Office of Trade is implementing an accreditation process for broker training educational activities not offered by a U.S. Government Agency.
As a selected Accreditor, EMTC will review training or educational activities for continuing education as found in 19USC 111.103 (d). Accredited training will meet the CBP requirements for Licensed Customs House Broker Continuing Education. Continuing education is a mandatory requirement to maintain a customs broker license starting with the 2024 triennial period.
This summer EMTC will work with our partner, CBP, and the other selected organizations to develop the program through the government-industry partnership. The program seeks to provide flexibility to the licensed brokers to complete their education requirements during each triennial reporting period. While the requirement is 36 credit hours over the three- year period, Customs will be prorating the first triennial period based on the starting date of the program for the 1 February 2024-31 January 31 2027 reporting period.
EMTC applied for the Accreditor role alongside our valued partners the Global Trade Professional Alliance, our ISO/IEC 17024 Authorised Certification Body and Practera, our certification platform. Together we bring the global trade industry vast and deep trade experience combined with experiential education technology for both ISO Certification and Customs Broker Continuing Education.
EMTC will be posting CBP program updates on our website under our Education tab. GTPA and EMTC will also list courses available to Customs Brokers as required by the Federal Register Notice as they are rolled out. This program is in addition to our current ISO/IEC 17024 Certification that is open to all Global Trade Professionals. We encourage Licensed Customs Brokers to browse these course lists as part of their professional growth. Education providers may submit courses to either or both programs for separate reviews. Course criteria may differ for each program.
