ICC Academy rolls out scholarships
In line with the International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) vision to secure peace prosperity and opportunity for all, the ICC Academy, the educational arm of the world business organization, is pleased to announce a dedicated scholarship programme for students and trade professionals worldwide.
The initiative offer an 80% bursary on the cost of the ICC Academy’s flagship online certificates on trade finance, the Global Trade Certificate (GTC) and Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP), as well as international business with the Export/Import Certificate (EIC).
Commenting on its newest capacity building initiative, ICC Academy Managing Director Daniel Kok said: “In today’s ever-evolving global and technology-driven economy, keeping up to date with current trends and practices is no longer a choice, but a necessity. From students needing to enhance employability to businesses striving to meet the changing requirements of stakeholders and gain competitive edge, everyone needs access to flexible and innovative transformative learning experience.”
As an education provider, capacity building is at the core part of the ICC Academy’s mission. Now prospective candidates without access to the necessary financial resources can enrol in our globally-recognised programmes. Through this opportunity, the ICC Academy aims to boost competencies and fill in the knowledge gaps for those keen on advancing their career, however unable to make it due to lack of funds.
Already the ICC Academy has received applications from more than 10 countries. As of today, five scholarships have been awarded to students from Cambodia, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines and Sierra Leone.
“Through these scholarships, interested students can take up the online certifications and stay competitive. This in turn will help educate the industry at large. It’s gratifying to support these particular students in such a direct way,” added Mr Kok.
Jane Panelo, Customs Broker for Interlogix Corporation in the Philippines is one of the candidates who has been awarded the ICC Academy scholarship. An absolutely delighted Jane says, “Being an entrepreneur and an International Trade enthusiast, keeping myself informed and knowledgeable in all facets of the industry is a must. This led to my interest in ICC Academy courses and their scholarship programme. I am thrilled to receive a scholarship for their flagship CTFP programme – Certified Trade Finance Professional. The courses are very prompt and relevant for further enhancing my know-how capabilities.”
In order to be eligible for an ICC Academy scholarship, participants must have:
– a sustained interest in the subject matter at hand by either completing other studies related to the subject or have a job in the same field;
– earn less than USD $750 per month; and
– an educational commitment and aptitude by either completing other professional courses or qualifications, preferably online, or graduating from university or college.
